Scholarship Center

WWU is transitioning to a centralized scholarship process where students will complete a single scholarship application and be considered for all WWU scholarships that they qualify for. This new centralized application will automatically use existing student data (GPA, major, minor, etc.) along with questions and essays to streamline the scholarship process. Students who submit an application will be considered for scholarships from all areas of campus, including academic and non-academic areas.

What Has Changed?

• Timer Saver! Now you don’t need to research individual WWU scholarships or apply for them individually, you’ll only need to complete one application each spring!
• More Eligibility! You won’t miss out on any WWU scholarship opportunities. If you complete the application, you will be considered for all scholarships you qualify for.
• Seamless Communication! Communication (such as application deadline reminders and incomplete application warnings) will be initiated through the portal.

What Can I Do Now?

• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA). A student’s FAFSA or WASFA application will be used to determine eligibility for need-based scholarships.
• Declare your major or minor. You must be officially declared in order to be eligible for scholarships within your area of study.
• Begin exploring who you want to request letters of recommendation from.  The letters of recommendation will be initiated through the portal once the application is live.
• Update your resume. Students will have the opportunity to provide resume information as part of their scholarship application. Contact the Career Services Center if you need assistance.
• The general application will have an essay section. You can expect to write essays including one on academic and career goals.
